Wow! What a finish to our GP high point Championship in Webster, Mass. It came down to the last GP heat on Sunday morning before Pierre Maheu could claim the 2011 ACHA-GP high point championship. Pierre ended up 22 points ahead of Bert Henderson in the Crush with Tom Pakradooni finishing third. Hats off to Pierre and his super crew to take a boat that’s completely opposite what their used to in their old boat and win with it their first season out is outstanding. Also on Sunday afternoon in Webster, Tom Pakradooni made a perfect start in lane two holding off Bert and Pierre and going on to win his second GP final of the year. What a great ending to another record setting season for the ACHA – GP class. Going back two weekends Ken Brodie Jr. won his first ever GP final in Beauharnois, Quebec making him the fourth different winner in the GP series this year.
The rumor mill has been hot and heavy these last two race weekends as usual this time of the year. Roger Mahan and Jimmy King will have a new Henderson hull for 2012. Now the question is will it be a new GP hull or an H-350 hull? We’ll have to wait and see on this piece of news. Also Daniel Mercier and Ghislain Marcoux are teaming up it is rumored and will either have a new Henderson GP hull or take an existing boat from the fleet. More on this team in my next newsletter. Mike Weber is also talking about returning in 2012 with his GP-55 “My Way” with possibly a new partner and or a new sponsor. Mike did a super job in our GP series his first year.
Word out of San Diego last weekend had Marty Wolfe and jimmy Shane having a lot of engine problems all weekend. Gregg Hopp ended up winning the GP final with papa Jerry coming in second. Anyway it’s that time of year when everything and everybody starts to slow down a little so take care and a big thank you to all our loyal GP fans for their continued support throughout the year.
